The Queen’s Wharf car park will be a 5-star experience in itself with access for coaches, limousines and everything in-between.
Car park design and construction has needed to cater for the type of vehicles expected to use the Queen’s Wharf development, including those with restricted turning circles to high and low clearance requirements.
When Queen’s Wharf opens it will provide luxury hotel accommodation, premier ballroom events, designer retail and fine dining experiences plus a range of community minded pop-up events and markets; and the car park underpinning this space will need to meet the diverse range of requirements.
Destination Brisbane Consortium Project Director Simon Crooks said the car park will work across a full range of vehicles including luxury sports cars
“All three of the entrances to the integrated resort development will have low gradient ramps specially designed for cars like Ferraris,” he said.
Three automated vehicle lifts connecting The Grand Hotel Porte Cohére, off William Street, to the valet car parking levels will provide a 5-star car parking service for hotel guests.
One of the automated vehicle lifts will also provide function specific vehicle access to Level 7, the Podium Level, where pop-up movies and food markets will be available to the public.
A coach lobby and dedicated group check-in facility has also been built in the basement beneath William Street.
Even the loading dock in the basement has been configured with some intriguing features.
“The 4,600m2 loading dock will be accessed from Queens Wharf Road and will have 14 different loading zones for vehicles up to 19 meters in length,” Mr Crooks said.
“It will also house linen hoists, chilled cold rooms and vacuum waste facilities.”
Accessible by Queens Wharf Road or via the corner of William and Margaret Streets, the car park will provide direct access to retail, restaurants, bars, the Sky Deck, The Grand Hotel, Queen’s Wharf Residences and the Dorsett and Rosewood hotels.
Multiplex Project Director Dayne May said works were progressing well with the structural components of the basement car park almost complete.
The $3.6 billion Queen’s Wharf Brisbane development is being delivered by Destination Brisbane Consortium – a joint venture led by The Star Entertainment Group alongside its Hong Kong-based partners, Chow Tai Fook Enterprises and Far East Consortium.
