Another boutique, luxury apartment project is bound for the blue-chip Brisbane suburb of New Farm as competition heats up.

Acclaimed architect Joe Adsett and his development partner, Craig Purdy, are teaming up again to create ‘Arcilla’ — a five-storey apartment building at 28 Maxwell Street.

There are now only two sky homes remaining in the New Farm project.

The pair submitted plans to the Brisbane City Council shortly before Christmas.

They paid $4 million for the 845 sqm site which was previously home to an existing four-storey apartment block.

The plans are for nine apartments with views across the Brisbane River to the CBD from each balcony and living space, which are consciously designed to promote indoor/outdoor living.

There will be mostly three-bedroom and three-bathroom apartments, with luxury finishes and communal areas including a gym and swimming pool.

There will be landscaping on all levels including a green roof.

There’s been a nod to the Spanish Mission heritage residence Neville Court next door, designed in 1936 by the prominent interwar architects Chambers and Ford.

Adsett has incorporated its design aesthetics in to his design, with a sculpted facade and a direct imprint of the Spanish Mission tile.

It comes as the fourth floor residence of ‘Maison’, a boutique apartment development by Graya and Frank Developments, has just sold for $3.6 million.

Purdy and Adsett have combined before, on Botanic New Farm, a 17-apartment development in nearby Sydney Street, which is close to being completed.
